Admission Procedure
To be admitted in University of Karachi, you must qualify for the National Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). One must remember that you only have to be eligible for the exam.

Merit Calculation:
i. The merit for admissions shall be calculated as an Aggregate Percentage of marks determined by giving the following weightage to the obtained marks of the candidate in different exams:
1. Matriculation/SSC/Equivalent – 10%
2. F.Sc./HSSC Pre-Medical / equivalent – 40%
3. MDCAT – 50%
ii. The Merit Calculation Formula is explained in detail with examples at the end of the
Prospectus (Annexure-IV).
iii. The final percentage calculation will be rounded up to four decimal points.
iv. No marks will be deducted for the candidate’s extra attempts in the HSSC/equivalent examination beyond two years after passing the SSC/ Matriculation annual examination.
Online Application Process:
The application process shall be entirely online, and no manual or hard copies shall be accepted. Applicants will be considered candidates for admission when the Online Application Form has been completed and submitted and the non-refundable Processing Fee is paid per the procedure.
The following steps must be followed to apply for admission successfully:
Step 1: Carefully review the Prospectus, Session 2024-25, available on the UHS website (www.uhs.edu.pk).
Step 2: Visit the Online Admission Portal for Government Medical and Dental Colleges on the UHS website (www.uhs.edu.pk).
Step 3: Create an account by providing your Name, Father/Guardian Name, Email ID and Password.
Step 4: First, indicate your preference for the MBBS and BDS programs. You can choose either MBBS or BDS or both. If you select both MBBS and BDS, you will need to specify your preference for each program. After choosing a program, select the category or categories of seats you wish to apply for.
Step 5: Fill in your details on the application form, including your name, domicile, contact information, address, nationality, gender, date of birth, etc.
Step 6: Enter your qualification details, such as your SSC and HSSC marks, passing year, subjects/study group, etc.
Step 7: Provide details about your MDCAT or other admission test scores.
Step 8: Determine the order of preference for medical and/or dental colleges. Depending on the seat category, you can select as many colleges as you wish to enter. You can edit your application until the closing date, but the number and order of preference will be final and unchangeable after the submission deadline. Colleges not included in your preference list will not be considered for admission.
Step 9: Upload scanned documents, ensuring each document is within a maximum size of 2 MB, as specified in the advertisement published in national newspapers on 5th October 2023 (also available on UHS website: www.uhs.edu.pk).
Step 10: Read and acknowledge the Undertaking/Affidavit. Verify the provided information and attachments before submission.
Step 11: Submit the online application. You will receive a confirmation notification via your email address and primary mobile number. Download and print both the submitted application
and the bank challan for the processing fee.
Step 12: Visit the nearest branch of The Bank of Punjab (BOP) with the fee challan to deposit the non-refundable Admission Processing Fee of Rs. 2,000 per program. This fee can also be

- Matriculation (SSC) certificate or result card issued by concerned BISE/Equivalence Certificate of O-Level, etc., issued by the IBCC
- HSSC Pre-Medical result issued by concerned BISE /Equivalence Certificate of foreign examination (A-Level, IB, American 12th Grade, etc.) issued by the IBCC. The candidates having foreign qualifications shall also upload their original results issued by the foreign university/board/school showing their grades in science subjects (Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics);
- The candidates having foreign qualifications equivalent to Pakistani HSSC (e.g., A-Level, IB, American 12th Grade, etc.) shall have to submit, along with their Equivalence Certificate, a Letter of Equivalence of Grades in Science Subjects (i.e., Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics), issued separately by IBCC. This is mandatory because, per the Pakistan Medical Commission’s (PMC) directions, the merit shall be calculated by using the marks in science subjects only on the HSSC/equivalent exam.
- MDCAT result card issued by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). The repeating candidates can use their MDCAT-2024 result, however, in their applications, they will enter the score as equated by the PMC for this year.
- Domicile certificate of the candidate (In the case of Overseas Pakistanis/Dual Nationality Holders category only, Punjab domicile of Overseas Father/Mother shall also be acceptable for candidates born outside Pakistan).
- Valid CNIC/CRC/NICOP/Passport of the candidate.
- Valid CNIC/NICOP/Passport of the candidate’s father/mother.
- A recent passport-size colour photograph of the candidate taken on a white or sky-blue background
- Specimen signatures and left thumb impression (LTI) of the candidate in blue/black ink on white paper.
- The hifz-e-Quran Certificate was issued by the Wafaq ul Madaris in the case of Pakistani candidates and the relevant national authority in the case of overseas candidates (only for candidates claiming to be Huffaz-e-Quran).
