GATE 2025: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into the master’ Program and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies. GATE 2025 is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and six other Indian Institutes of Technology in Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Chennai, Kharagpur & Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidate willing to give the GATE 2025 exam, must meet these eligibility criteria.
- A candidate currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program.
- A candidate who has completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible to appear in the GATE 2025 exam.
- However, the candidates who possess certification from any professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Planning, etc.
- Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India: Must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree (duration: at least 3 years) in Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce.

Documents Required
These are the documents required while filling the aplication form.
- High Quality image of candidate’s photograph (5KB to 1MB).
- High Quality image of candidate’s signature (5KB to 200KB).
- Scanned copy of cast certificate (SC/ST) in pdf format. (if applicable)
- Scanned copy of certificate of Dyslexia in pdf format. (if applicable)
- Scanned copy of valid photo identity document: Aadhar-UID (preferable)/ Passport/ PAN Card/ Voter ID/ Driving License.
- The photo ID must have Name, Date of birth of the candidate and unique photo ID number. This photo ID must be carried in original to the examination hall for verification.

Negative marking | For a wrong answer chosen in a MCQ, there will be negative marking. For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ and NAT questions. There is no partial marking for any question. |
Admit Card
IIT Roorkee will released the admit card for GATE 2025 online at the official website. Registered candidates can download the GATE 2025 admit card by login into the GOAPS website – gate2025.iitr.ac.in/ To download the GATE admit card, candidates will have to log in to the GOAPS portal using their enrollment or email id and password.
IIT Roorkee GATE 2025 admit card is an essential document that the candidates must keep safe throughout admission. While reporting to the exam centre, the candidates will have to present their GATE 2025 admit card and one valid identity proof. In case of any mistakes in the IIT Roorkee GATE 2025 hall ticket/admit card, the candidates will have to contact the authorities.
Steps to download GATE Admit Card 2025:
- Visit the GOAPS portal.
- Candidates will have to GATE 2025 login using their enrollment id/ email address and password.
- The GATE admits card will be displayed on the screen.
- Candidates will have to download and take 2 printouts of the same.
Result
IIT will released the result of GATE 2025 through GOAPS on the official website. Candidates can check their GATE results by logging in using their enrollment id/ email id and date of birth. Information related to secured scores and the All India Rank of the candidate is available in the result. The authorities will release the GATE scorecard for only those candidates who have scored equal to or more than the qualifying cutoff in GATE 2025.
GATE 2025 Cutoff
The minimum marks that a candidate has to score to qualify for the examination constitutes the qualifying cutoff of GATE 2025. Along with the result, the qualifying GATE cutoff has also been declared by the authorities. Candidates need to meet the qualifying cutoff for GATE 2025 for the examination; however, the admission cutoff must be satisfied for allotment. Since there is no common counselling for GATE, the admission cutoff will be determined by institutes for admission to various M.Tech courses.
Counselling Process
There will be no common counselling for IIT Roorkee GATE 2025. However, the GATE 2025 counselling and admission process for IIT admissions is done by COAP. Similarly, for admissions into NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and some IIITs & GFTIs, CCMT is conducted. All candidates will have to individually apply for admissions at their preferred institutes.
