The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into the master’ Program and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies. GATE 2022 is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and six other Indian Institutes of Technology in Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Chennai, Roorkee & Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
GATE 2022 Highlights
IIT Kharagpur released the GATE 2022 result on March 16 at the official website gate.iitkgp.ac.in. Applicants can check the GATE results 2022 through their Enrollment ID/ Email Address and password. However, the scorecard of GATE 2022 is made available for download from March 22. IIT KGP has also released the GATE 2022 topper for all the subjects on the official website. Earlier, the exam authority released the official website of the GATE 2022 answer key on February 21. Applicants can download their GATE answer key through candidate login. GATE 2022 answer key challenge was open from February 22 to 25.

GATE 2022 Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program.
- A candidate who has completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible to appear in the GATE 2022 exam.
- However, the candidates who possess certification from any professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Planning, etc.
- Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India: Must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree (duration: at least 3 years) in Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce.
GATE 2022 Application Process
The last date for rectification of the GATE 2022 application form was November 18. The GATE 2022 correction window has closed. The last date to make corrections was November 15, 2021. The last date for submitting the GATE 2022 application form with a late fee was October 7. Candidates could access the GATE application form 2022 online until September 30 without a late fee. The GATE 2022 registration will be open through the GATE Online Application Process (GOAPS). The candidates will have to register for the GATE 2022 exam, fill out the required personal, contact, and academic details, upload scanned documents, and pay the required application fee to participate in the entrance examination.
How do you fill GATE Application Form 2022?
Step 1 – Online Registration: Candidates need to visit the GOAPS portal for GATE registration 2022. Candidates will have to use their name, country of residence, email address, and mobile number to apply for the GATE exam 2022. A password also has to be generated for future log-in. An enrollment number is generated on successful registration.
Step 2 – Filling out GATE 2022 Application Form: The candidates must provide their valid personal, academic, and communication details. The preferred GATE paper, along with two exam centres (one from their zone and the other from another zone), must also be selected by the candidates.
Step 3 – Uploading of Documents: After the details are filled in, the candidates have to upload their photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable) as per the specifications mentioned by the GATE authorities.
Step 4 – Fee Payment: Finally, the candidates have to pay the required application fee of GATE 2022 in online mode (net banking/credit card/debit card).

IIT Kharagpur has released the exam pattern of GATE 2022 through its official website. The authorities will release the GATE scorecard for only those candidates who have scored equal to or more than the qualifying cutoff in GATE 2022.
GATE 2022 Cutoff
The minimum marks that a candidate has to score to qualify for the examination constitutes the qualifying cutoff of GATE 2022. Along with the result, the qualifying GATE cutoff has also been declared by the authorities. Candidates need to meet the qualifying cutoff for GATE 2022 for the examination; however, the admission cutoff must be satisfied for allotment. Since there is no common counselling for GATE, the admission cutoff will be determined by institutes for admission to various M.Tech courses.
GATE 2022 Qualifying Cutoff Vs Admission Cutoff:
Candidates participating in GATE 2022 must understand the difference between the GATE admission cutoff and the GATE qualifying cutoff.
- GATE qualifying cutoff is the minimum mark required by the candidates to qualify for the exam. GATE cutoff will vary as per the different candidates’ categories and differ for 29 subjects. The qualifying cutoff of GATE will be released along with the declaration of the result.
- GATE admission cutoff is the minimum mark required by the candidates to get admission to the participating institutes. The institute will release the admission cutoff of GATE during the admission process.
GATE 2022 Counselling
There will be no common counselling for IIT KGP GATE 2022. However, the GATE 2022 counselling and admission process for IIT admissions is done by COAP. Similarly, for admissions into NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and some IIITs & GFTIs, CCMT is conducted. All candidates will have to individually apply for admissions at their preferred institutes.
