Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences Bangalore was established in the year of 1980 by the Vokkaligara Sangh. Kempegowda is considered among the best medical institutes in Karnataka. On September 2, 1979, the Vokkaligara Sangha formally decided to establish a medical college that would open in 1980–1981 and requested authorization from the registrar of Bangalore University. The college is more commonly referred to as KIMS Bangalore. It received approval from the NMC and was affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
