Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling Eligibility Criteria
The authority determines the basic criteria for getting admission to MBBS. The following few lines cover the most important aspects that a candidate needs to keep in mind before getting himself or herself admitted to the colleges.
- Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- Domicile Candidate: The candidate must be a bona fide resident of TN.
- Candidates who have completed their class 6 to 12 education from the state are not required to submit the nativity certificate. However, they have to submit their parent’s birth certificate ration card, SSLC/10/12 certificate, or no graduate certificate if their parents are illiterate.
- Applications from other states living in Tamil Nadu are not considered domicile and must be admitted in the open category.
- Domiciles of Tamil Nadu who have completed their partial education from class 6 to 12 in another state must submit the important documents of their parents as mentioned above. A permanent residence certificate will not be accepted as an alternative to the nativity certificate.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be 17 years old. The upper age limit for NEET is 25 years for the general category and 30 years for SC ST and OBC.
- Education: The candidate must have completed class 12th in the required subjects(PCB) with biotechnology and English as the main subjects from the state.
- The unreserved category must have at least 50% in PCB, while SC ST and OBC students must obtain 40% in the required subjects.

Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2024
A candidate can visit the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, To get themselves for Tamil Nadu State Counselling 2024.
Step 1: Registration process: Candidates seeking admission must register by filling out the application form’s personal, academic, and required details.
Step 2: Publishing merit list: The counselling authority will publish the state merit list after completing the application form.
Step 3: Documents verification: Candidates were called for document verification as per their state merit rank and had to report to the assigned verification centre with all the required documents.
Step 4: Choice filling and locking Process: After the successful verification session, candidates must fill in their choices of courses and colleges and then lock it. They are advised to enter their preferences carefully.
Step 5: Seat allotments: Based on choices filled, availability of seats, state merit rank, and seat reservation, the seats will be allotted to applicants for the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission 2024.
Step 6: Reporting Process: Candidates must report at the designated colleges within the required date and timings for granting the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 admission.
First Phase of TN MBBS & BDS Counselling Procedure:
- The candidates should pay a non-refundable amount of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) towards the Processing Fee using a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10” payable at Chennai on the scheduled date of counselling.
- The candidates can download the call letter and appear in person with all the original certificates at the venue per the schedule.
- After certificate verification, the candidates selected for the first phase of counselling should receive the provisional allotment order. The candidates should join the course on or before the date mentioned in the temporary allotment order.
- The candidates who have been allotted seats and failed to join the course within the stipulated time are not eligible to attend the subsequent phases of counselling for the academic year 2024-2025. This applies to all stages of counselling
- The candidates who failed to appear in person for the first phase of counselling are deemed to have opted out of the counselling processes and will not be allowed to participate in the subsequent counselling steps for the academic year 2024 or 2025.
How to Apply
- Step I: The candidate must visit the official website.
- Step 2: Candidates should fill out the form online on www.tnhealth.org and submit the filled-in online application form after uploading the details in the required fields. With necessary enclosures, students should send the printout filled in an online application form.
- Step 3: The cost of the application form, which is Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only), should be paid through the Bank payment portal on the websites or through the Demand Draft that is drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10” payable at Chennai.
- Step 4: Students should send the Application form to THE SECRETARY, SELECTION COMMITTEE, 162, PERIYAR E.V.R. HIGH ROAD, KILPAUK, CHENNAI – 10.
- Step 5: Then, the Merit List will be published. The “Save & Continue” button.
- Step 6: And finally, the Result will be published.
- Step 7: Students must undergo Document Verification, fee submission, and reporting.
- Step 8: Students can go for the up-gradation or surrender their seats.
- Step 7: A person is eligible to participate in the Mop-up round if, after the 2nd round, there is no allotment happened.
Documents Required
Candidates must fill in the following details while filling out the online application form for the counselling process.
- NEET 2024 admit card and NEET 2024 scorecard.
- Class X Mark Sheet (both sides of Mark Sheet).
- Class XII Mark Sheet (both sides of Mark Sheet).
- H.S.C. Mark sheet (both sides of Mark Sheet) or equivalent examination.
- Transfer certificate obtained after the completion of H.S.C. or equivalent courses.
- Certificate for proof of study from VI Std. to XII Std for the candidates who have studied thoroughly in Tamil Nadu.
- Permanent Community Certificate.
- Nativity certificate.
- Birth Certificate of the Candidate.
- Parent Documents need to be uploaded for the candidates who claim their native as Tamil Nadu as follows:-
- SSLC / PUC / HSC Mark sheet
- Transfer Certificate
- Non-literate parents should produce First Graduate Certificate.
