NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national-level entrance examination in India for students aspiring to pursue MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, BSc Nursing, and other medical courses in government and private colleges. NEET UG 2025 counselling refers to the seat allocation process based on candidates’ NEET score and ranks. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), conducts counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical and dental colleges. The remaining 85% of seats in both government and private institutions are filled through state-level counselling conducted by respective state authorities.
The Medical Counselling Committee is the authorised body for NEET UG 2025 counselling for 15% AIQ seats in government colleges and 100% seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC/AFMS institutions, and BSc Nursing programs. The counselling process will be conducted in four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. MCC has released the revised counselling schedule and seat allotment will be strictly based on merit, preferences, and reservation policies.

How to apply for NEET Counselling 2025?
- Begin by completing the MCC NEET 2025 registration process, which includes payment of the required fee.
- Proceed to participate in the counselling by filling in and locking your preferred choices of colleges and courses.
- Round 1 seat allotment will be conducted, followed by the declaration of results.
- Report to the allotted medical or dental college. You may either accept the seat or use the free exit option.
- The list of net vacant seats for Round 2 will be released. Registration opens for new candidates (already registered ones need not register again), along with fresh choice filling.
- Round 2 seat allotment will be conducted. Candidates can exit at this stage by forfeiting the security deposit if they do not wish to continue.
- Report to the college allotted in Round 2. Candidates who accept and join this round will not be permitted to resign or vacate the seat later.

Counselling for 15% All India Quota
- The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, will hold the Counselling for 15% of All India Quota Seats.
- All deemed central state universities will participate in online counselling.
- This counselling will also fill ESIC, AFMC, BHU & AMU seats.
- Candidates will apply for 15% All India Quota seats per the directions of DGHS, and Counselling will be stopped as soon as the seats are filled.
- Through this counselling, candidates can get enrolled in any of the medical colleges in India.
- Those candidates who participate in All India Counselling can also participate in State Counselling of their respective states.
MCC NEET UG Counselling Process for AIQ Quota
Candidates applying for Medical/Dental Colleges in India must register for the AIQ NEET UG counselling 2025. Counselling of NEET for All India Quota will be conducted in two rounds in online mode. The counselling will consist of these steps.
- Candidate Registration: Register on the official website.
- Choice Filling and Locking (Round 1): You have to choose the courses and colleges of your preference and finally lock in the preferences in the online portal.
- Seat Allotment Result (Round 1): The seat allotment will be published online based on available vacancies and candidate’s choices.
- Reporting to college: Those who will be allotted a seat in the first round will be required to either reject the allotted seat or report to the allotted college and complete the admission formalities.
- New Registration (Round 2): For candidates who couldn’t register in the first round of counselling.
- Fresh Choice Filling and Locking (Round 2): This is similar to Round 1 mentioned above.
- Seat Allotment Result (Round 2): This is similar to Round 1 mentioned above.
- Reporting to college (Round 2): Here, it is to be noted that those who will be allotted a seat in the second round of counselling (15% AIQ Quota) will not be permitted to vacate their seats as per the orders made by the Supreme Court of India.
